A Spring’s Day Is Never Done

A cooler day today, with highs only in the upper 50s rather than the upper 60s like yesterday. When you want to sit outside, those ten degrees make all the difference. The 50s are lovely when you’re dressed for winter, and moving, but it doesn’t feel terribly warm otherwise. It’s mild, not frigid, but it ain’t warm.

I did most of my yard work yesterday, so supposedly we are being a bit more leisurely today, though I’m not sure I entirely agree with this assessment. I have risen and made coffee, emptying the dishwasher while I was at it. We are planning to leave around 11 am, but first, I have to unload the bags of mulch from the back of my wife’s Jeep and stack them somewhere for later use. Then, I have to fetch both bicycles from the shed and secure them to the bike rack on the back of the Jeep.

We’ll drive to Wildwood on the coast, making our way first to Skippy’s Bike Shop, where we purchased our bikes, for our free annual tune-up. Once we have concluded our business with Skippy, we will find a convenient place to park near the boardwalk, likely near the convention center, and proceed to walk up and down some length of it, not to exceed three miles, and preferably closer to two.

Finally, we will go to lunch, where I plan to enjoy a glass of wine with my overpriced meal. Only after all these shenanigans have been completed will we return home, whereupon my wife will no doubt try to get me to do more yard work, as she thinks this is our great purpose in life. Plus, she has a micro garden around the mailbox she wants edged. Also, I sort of promised the birds in the neighborhood I would refill the feeders, including the hummingbirds. It’s supposed to be a warm week, and I could see them arriving.

Might as well get dressed and get this party started.
